For those interested in the technical side of it:
The performance is semi-improvised, taking off from a set I built in Ableton that allows me to use my custom controllers for specific purposes, such as looping, filtering, triggering, FX, and also video control.
The controllers speak to each other and to ableton through a Max Patch which allows for control and feedback (for instance showing me the APC Bank selection on my iPad touchOSC controller). The APC itself is completely custom scripted.
There is playback happening, but it’s controlled by me and I have independent control on channels (bussed like synths, beats, leads, as well as individual channels like Kicks, Snares, my voice, etc) for audio improvisations. I also have control on which channels affect the video.
The visual content is generated using Jitter. Half the set is generative, and the other half using videos, all of which are syncing and being affected by my audio and MIDI signals that are being sent over from the audio to the video computer. Around 40 secs into the clip, the visuals being generated are using a depth sensor to visualize the audience live and driven by the audio.
